The Father

1942. An experienced Siberian hunter, Gavriil, learns that his son has been reported missing in action. Driven by despair and rage, Gavriil volunteers for the front lines — he believes Semyon is alive and is determined to find him. But instead of being sent to the frontline, Gavriil is appointed sergeant major of a sniper group — a unit of young and inexperienced boys. Gavriil trains them in the art of sniping and gradually becomes a father figure to them. Yet deep in his heart, the hope of finding his son still burns. And for that goal, he is ready to endure anything.
