Alexander is the coach of the Irkutsk hockey club. He recruits Sergey, a talented player with a scandalous reputation. Alexander's daughter, Nadia, accidentally crosses paths with Sergey, and they quickly fall in love. Nadia is preparing for the most important competition of her life, the Ice Cup in Moscow, while Sergey receives an invitation to join the NHL in Canada. Alexander doubts the sincerity of their feelings and insists they end the relationship.
